About the job

STONY BROOK, NY- Journalist & Entrepreneur are on the search for a FULL-TIME NANNY/PERSONAL ASSISTANT to join their bustling household! Schedule is from 6AM-2PM M-F. Pay is commensurate with experience + PTO. They have two girls ages 6 and 2 years old. During the summer, the 2 year old is at camp from 9am to 1pm and the 6 year old is at camp from 9am to 3:15pm. During the summer, the family is mostly looking for help getting the kids out of the door in the morning and then helping with meal prep, laundry, light housework and misc errands while the kids are at camp during the day. The family may require help with camp drop-off, but will not require help with camp pickup. During the school year, the 6 year old leaves for school at 7:30am and returns at 3:30pm. She takes the bus. The 2-year-old is driven to school at 8:50am Monday through Friday and will be picked up at either noon or 1pm. The family may require help with school drop-off for the 2 year old, but will not require help with school pickup.

The older daughter is independent, creative, observant; and their youngest is gregarious, energetic, silly. Nanny car provided while on the job (or you can use your own and they will provide gas & mileage reimbursement). They are looking for someone organized and diligent in the PA role, and young and energetic in the Nanny role -- someone who can keep up with a two year old and still maintain the stamina to stimulate the curiosity of their 6 year old. Someone who embraces the philosophy of gentle parenting. They do not use strict punishment, but rather empathize with them and encourage the children to express themselves. They want someone who can set boundaries with the kids and stick to them in a firm but loving way. The kids' grandmother has been their primary caregiver since they were both born. She is wonderful and they're hoping that the nanny is OK with some overlap with grandma. Based on current proposed schedule, overlap would be no more than one hour or two. The dad travels frequently, so flexibility is required and some possible nights and or overnights might be needed. Ideal candidates can help run their home efficiently and take on tasks such as laundry, organizing, light cleaning and meal prep. Must be fully vaccinated (tdap, influenza, covid and booster) and be willing to sign an NDA. LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY!
