About the job
A warm and welcoming family based in Hertfordshire are seeking a full-time live-in nanny to support their 3 children aged 4, 14 and 16. An approximate schedule is 7.30am - 7pm and they would ideally love their nanny to alternate between Monday through Friday one week and then Tuesday through Saturday the following week. They will also expect 2 nights per week babysitting and would appreciate flexibility to allow for changing plans and occasional weekend help.
The youngest boy will be starting school in September, so morning duties will include making sure all three children are up, breakfasted and ready for school and with supporting Mum with school runs for the youngest on a regular basis and for the elder two occasionally. During the day your responsibilities will involve keeping the children's areas clean and tidy, including making sure their beds are made and their laundry and ironing is done. There may also be some errands and possible PA duties around the children's schedules. Afternoons may involve picking the youngest up from school and then bringing him home or taking him to some of his activities. You will be responsible for preparing dinner for him, usually around 5pm, which may or may not also be for the middle child depending on her schedule.
The ideal candidate for this position is warm, positive, easy-going and happy to get stuck in! The youngest boy loves being outdoors, is sociable with other children his age but equally loves playing with his legos or colouring in. You'll need to be able to provide a structured, engaging environment that keeps him busy and focused but that doesn't overwhelm him. The older children are independent and manage their own schedules to a certain extent, but do expect there to be some general care for them as well as occasional pick-ups and drop-offs when needed. The family are close and enjoy their time together - you will need to be adept at 'reading the room', comfortable knowing when to step up and be a part of what's going on but also when to take a step back and allow for family time and privacy. Someone independent but with plenty of initiative will work well in this role. Mum is in and out during the day usually but there will also be times when the role is completely sole charge, if the parents are travelling. Accommodations are your own double room and bathroom on the ground floor, self-contained but not completely separate from the rest of the house. The family are hoping to move (within the same area) by the autumn, at which point they will hope to have a separate annex for the nanny. A confident driver is essential and it would be preferred if you have your own vehicle. There are also 2 small dogs in the home, so please be ok with pets and happy to help out with them if necessary.
If you are interested in the role, are COVID-vaccinated and are legal to work in the UK, please apply to ZI127.
