About the job
A great full time, sole charge nanny role has become available in Tring, Hertfordshire.
You will be working with a family of five, who live in a 1940s house with a nice garden. They are friendly, active and enjoy walks in the woods, cycling and exploring the local parks. The children like arts and crafts and reading and playing with Lego.
You will be looking after two girls aged seven years and 20 months and a little boy aged four. As the two older children are at school, your main responsibility during the day will be the youngest little girl.
For the first three months, while Mum is on a teacher training course, the role will be full time for three days each week, with hours of 08.15 – 17.00. The days are flexible and can suit the nanny too. From September, the role will be full time, Monday – Friday, 08.15 – 17.00.
The parents are keen for their children to learn and develop in a balanced way, to help them hit their various developmental milestones – with lots of educational and stimulating indoor fun (reading stories, sensory play, singing, age-appropriate games, etc) mixed with plenty of outside play and walks to the park. They would also like the children to meet up with friends for play dates, groups and activities in the school holidays, to allow the children to mix with other children, ensuring that they are happy and safe at all times.
Although a driver is not essential for this role as schools are within walking distance, if the nanny can drive, they must be a confident and careful driver, with a clean licence. They must have a fully insured car that they can use on duty – duty mileage will be reimbursed at the government rate, currently 45p per mile.
This role will be nursery duties only, but some help to keep the house running smoothly would be appreciated – emptying the dishwasher, making sure all rooms used are tidy at the end of the day, etc. As well as keeping all areas used by the children organised (kitchen, children’s rooms, playroom, etc), the duties are to include keeping on top of the children’s laundry. The family use cloth nappies for the little girl. You will also be responsible for providing the children with healthy and nutritious meals and snacks (home cooked from scratch as often as possible). The little boy is dairy intolerant, so there is a need to understand how to adapt recipes. It would be appreciated while you are cooking for the children, that you make a little more, so that the parents can enjoy your cooking too.
