Job summary:
Nanny required for a baby due in June 2022. The nanny will start in August although they are happy to discuss you starting in June or July or September.
You will be working approximately 38 hours Monday - Friday. The exact daily hours will be confirmed. They need daytime hours but would appreciate a candidate happy to be flexible and help in the evenings and occasional weekends. They want a nanny who is keen to commit long-term. Ideally, the nanny will stay for three or four years.
Being happy to travel is important as it’s a requirement to travel with the family a few times a year. Trips will be for a week to two weeks. They travel every so often with the extended family during this trip you will also be required to care for their niece at times. The hours and days you work when traveling will vary.
The baby building a strong relationship with the extended family is important. Their three-year-old niece lives close by. Part of your job will be to collect her from school once a week and care for her and the baby.
This job will be a mixture of sole charge and shared care. The Mum will be returning to work initially on a part-time basis. She has an office in the house. The Dad will be traveling every month for work, when at home he also has an office space in the house and locally.
The family is happy to consider live-in or live-out candidates. If you live in the accommodation is a bedroom, bathroom and own living room on the top floor of the house. They live a ten-minute bike ride from the city center. There is a garden and swimming pool at the house. It’s ideal if you can swim. If you wanted to initially live in for six months then live out they are happy to discuss this option.
They are keen for the baby to have a routine. Encouraging independence, resilience, manners, and being proactive is important. Someone happy to explore the local parks, find activities and classes for the baby.
Key qualities are punctuality, kindness, discretion, and confidence in using your initiative. Having a warm personality while being professional would work well in this house.
Duties: The nanny will do all standard nursery duties, weaning and cooking for the baby, running errands when required, and general tidying.
The nanny is not responsible for the pets but you need to be comfortable around animals as there are two small French bulldogs and three chickens.
Experience and qualifications required: A highly experienced nanny, who has had similar jobs and can guide and support the parents. Someone with extensive experience caring for babies and children under the age of four.
Skills required: It’s a vital requirement you have experience cycling a bakfiets as this will be yours and the baby's main mode of transport. There will be access to an electric bakfiets. It’s helpful if you are a driver but not required. There is access to free parking if you have a car.
Raising the child bilingual is important to the family. The Dad will speak French to the baby, Mum will speak Dutch and they would love the nanny to introduce a third language. Speaking English and another language potentially Spanish or Portuguese is a plus but it’s not a requirement.
Agency requirements: Applicants must have an EU passport or already have a permit or visa for Belgium. Applicants need a minimum of three years of full-time professional childcare experience, valid pediatric first aid, and a recent police check to register.
